Lost Days ? ?!? ?! ??

Well, well, well. Here I am again. I know what you must be thinking. You're thinking I'm a restless, inconsistent, motivationless flake. You'd be right, but that's not why I haven't posted here in weeks! I blame the powers that be for my unintentional blog break. I encountered some unforseen problems trying to log into this piece of shit site approximately 3 weeks ago and haven't been able to update things since. After much confusion, teeth-grinding, punching of the keyboards, and irrationally yelling at my boyfriend, I have somehow managed to revive this blog from the cold, dark depths of interwebs purgatory! I have lots of pieces to update you with and some days (from the book '365:A Daily Creativity Journal') that I've simply missed or skipped over. I'm not losing sleep over them and neither should you.

First things first, here is my finished vase that I made awhile back with my neice:
Awesome, huh?! I will sell it to you for 100 bucks.

from Day 9 - "Write a ten-word love story. Bonus: Illustrate it!"
I thought this assignment was going to be hard, but then I thought about how my boyfriend and I met and everything fell into place after that. Here's the story:

Awesome, HUH?! You can't have it.

More to come soon! (no thanks to blogger.com)

Days 7 & 8

I've fallen a little behind on my blog due to a family emergency that took place last Wednesday. But I have been creating stuff! This post is a bit of a two-for-one, or actually, a three-for-one deal! I've been trying to play catch up on the day's assignments I've missed so here's what I have for you:

Day 7 - "Make something with your breakfast before you eat it."

For breakfast I had roasted tomatos with basil & bleu cheese, 6-minute eggs, and whole grain toast with apricot preserves! In case you were wondering, yes, it was delicious. I thought the only way to go with this dish, creatively, was to do the obvious:

I call him Egg Face Man. Doesn't he look happy to be eaten?

Day 8 - "Use only water as your medium/inspiration today."
I took my niece to 'Fired Up!' today in Evansville, where we both got to paint ceramic pieces of our choice and have the instructors fire them there. I had never been before and it was really a good time! (Minus the 12 or so screaming children in the party room and the loud mouthed mom that was on her bluetooth the entire time)
I picked out this vase and created a watery-ish-bubbly-speckled thing. Unfortunately you can't fully witness my artistic genius just yet, because the piece hasn't been fired. When it is fired (in about a week) I will be sure to post the final results here! Unless of course it sucks, and then I won't. And you'll just have to deal with that.

Day 6 - 4 Servings A Day

"Look in the kitchen and work with the first fruit or vegetable you spot." This was an easy one because I always have fresh fruit and veggies on hand. I've had a bag of googly eyes I bought at the dollar store sitting around for a few months and had absolutely no use for them until now. (Except for one annonymous incident at my workplace, the perpetrators of which shall remained unnamed) These little guys have been on the window sill since this morning- wonder how long they'll remain? P.S. My favorite is the little tomato.

Day 5 - Keys

"What do you collect? Work with a collection of objects you have in your home (or borrow a friend's if you like)."
I collect very few things on purpose. I've had this collection of old keys sitting in my room for a few years now and never have done anything with them. Originally I wanted to combine them with my collection of wine corks (which I save after drinking a bottle) and make some sort of funky, decorative mobile out of them. That didn't end up happening because I got distracted by Oreos and the season premiere of "Bethanny Ever After" on Bravo. Anyhow. This is what I came up with; it is a paintbrush holder. It's simple, but crafty (kinda). Martha Stewart would be unimpressed I'm sure.

Day 4 - Found Objects

Tonight I took a walk around downtown Newburgh with Jason. The objective was to find random objects and make something out of them. I got bonus points for leaving my creation in a public space for someone else to find. I took it a step further and left a little note saying "If you found this, you are part of an art project! Please visit 'whitneymadethis.blogspot.com." I'm hoping they do and let me know what they think!
It was about 10pm, windy, and raining when we went on this venture, but I think it was worth it. We made a great memory and hopefully we can make someone smile whenever they come across this. It was left in the red telephone booth next to the old Newburgh library.

Titled: 'PDA'

Day 3 - Paper,paper,paper

The assignment: "Make something out of paper, but don't use scissors or glue or draw on it." It mentions nothing about staples. I used lots of them.

Day 2 - Favorite Animal

Today I was asked to think of my favorite animal and use it as my inspiration. I settled on the elephant.
Everyone knows the elephant is the largest land mammal on earth but did you also know that they have no natural predators? Elephants also have the largest brain of any animal on the planet, weighing in at approximately 11 lbs. With all that grey matter upstairs, you know the elephants have got to be up to something good!
Their social circles consist of mainly females, making them a matriarch-oriented team, and I believe, some of the most successful neo-feminists out there today. Also, they're herbivores, which means they're eco-conscious too! Elephants are highly emotional creatures (why do you think Eeyore was modeled after them?) and they never forget! When a group stumbles upon another elephant's remains, they spend hours inspecting and smelling the bones. They seem to not only recognize family members that have passed, but experience grief over it.
Highly revered across Asia and celebrated as a god, Ganesh, within Hinduism, the elephant, in a word, is 'cool.' Let's be more like the elephants, guys.
